Lulimbi tented camp lies at the center of Virunga national park and it is acknowledged for its elephants, hippos, buffaloes, warthogs, giant forest hogs, topi, crocodiles and numerous bird species. The camp is situated along side the shoreline of the Ishasha River, that winds via the Virunga’s lush savanna plains. Lulimbi tented camp is an ancient camp in the Virunga national park which was established to serve two major reasons; to showcase Virunga’s remarkable savannah wildlife and to offer visitors the opportunity to actively engage in conservation.

The experiences at Lulimbi tented camp begin at the steps of one’s tent. Hippos wallow away their days in the Ishasha River, just a few meters from the tented camp, there are also elephants that you will sight at. This beautiful nature scene is best watched by Virunga’s rangers who welcome visitors’ engagement on their monitoring patrols. As the park rangers take you through, you will also engage in wildlife counts, visual health checks of the numerous species and there after learn much concerning the history of the Virunga national park and the challenges the future holds.

Lulimbi tented camp is composed of ten private tents, four with two twin beds, four with double beds and two set up with three twin beds. Each of the tents has an en-suite bathroom with hot showers and other standard amenities. Just after your meals, you can retire to the well pointed lounge tent. The lounge tent has a full bar and is the best area for you to chill and take in the natural world just outside the netting. Besides accommodation services, visitors also have numerous activities to engage in and they include elephant monitoring with park rangers, chimpanzee habituation walks, birding, game drives, Lake Edward boat excursion, Tilapia fishing and visit to the Nyakakoma fishing village. The costs for the camp comprise of the breakfast, lunch and dinner. For alcoholic beverages, visitors can access them on additional cost.
