Detailed itinerary of the 4 days Virunga Gorillas tour
Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Virunga National Park
Your 4 days Virunga Gorillas Tour starts from Kigali City with breakfast at your place of residence and meeting with your Company representative at the agreed meeting point. Be briefed on the adventurous safari you are about to undertake and start the drive towards Gisenyi for Lunch and where you will also crossover to Goma after undertaking the necessary security checks. Be driven to the tourism office for your Gorilla and Volcano hiking permits, then head to the place of stay for dinner and overnight.

- Midrange: Kibumba Tented Camp.
- Budget: Bukima Tented Camp.
Meal Plan: Lunch and Dinner.
Day 2: Mountain gorilla trekking
Have breakfast, dress appropriately and report at Bukima Patrol Post with your gorilla permit, passport and trekking gear for registration and briefing on the dos and don’ts of the activity. Later start the invigorating hike through the forest in the company of fellow trekkers, armed ranger/guide as well as porters, and expect a hectic 1-4 hours of trekking before a gorilla family is found. The hike will be spiced by the encounters of other wildlife species especially waterbucks, elephants, buffaloes, black and white colobus monkeys and chimpanzees as well as bird species that call the lush Park home.
When you find them, your mind will be blown away by their gentle nature, massive size and tenderness. You will have a maximum of one hour with them then head back to the accommodation facility for your late Lunch and spend the rest of the day relaxing your body and mind for the next adventurous activity.

Day 3: Nyiragongo Hiking
Make sure to wake up early to prepare yourself for the next activity on the itinerary, have breakfast and transfer to the Park Headquarters by 7:00am. Have a briefing with the ranger/guide and begin the hike towards the higher slopes/peak of the active Nyiragongo Volcano. Hike for 4-6 hours while relishing the breathtaking views of the landscape and spotting the different mammals, birds and other attractions on the slopes of the Mountain. Your breath will be taken away by the night view of the active Nyiragongo Peak and place your tents for meals as well as overnight.
Day 4: Descend Mount Nyiragongo and return to Kigali
Enjoy breakfast and descend Mount Nyiragongo to the starting point and to the Lodge for Lunch. Leave for Kigali for departure flight if it is scheduled for that day.
